No Worries. Help Is Here!

Many Veterinarian Offices Will Trim Your Dog's Nails For Free.
If It's Not Free, It's Typically About $5-$10.
If The Thought Of Trimming Your Dog's Nails Stresses You Out

You Want To Keep Your Dog's Nails Trimmed So they Have Proper Traction.
If Your Dog's Nails Get Too Long, Your Pooch Will Compensate And Alter The Gait.
This Causes Another Set Of Problems.
Long Nails Also Scratch Up The Floor (even if it's carpeting).
When Your Dog Has An Itch They Could Scratch Their Skin,
Ears or Bellies To Bleeding.
Long Nails Also Scratch The Human.

If You're Willing To Brave The Land Of Dog Nail Trimming, Here's A Few Tips:
First And Foremost, Get Some Dog Nail Trimmers. The Good Ones.
Spend the $25 On Your Dog.
The Trimmers Don't Need To Be The Most Expensive,
But They Need to Be Sharp.
The Better Quality Dog Nail Trimmers Also Last A Lot Longer
Plus Many Of Them Come With Stypic Powder.

To Get The Most Cooperation From Your Dog For Nail Trimming, Start Slow.
You're Training Your Dog Them.
Have Paw Caressing Sessions For Several Days To Get Them Used
To Their Paws Being Touched.
If Your Feet Are Ticklish, You Completely Understand This!
Remember: Lots Of Praise, Praise, Praise.

When You Trim Your Dog's Nails, Take Off The Tip Of The Nail.
This Is About 1/8" TO 1/4".
Start With The Smaller Trim.
Be Careful! If You Trim Too Much And Cut The Quick,
There Will Be Blood. Don't Panic. If You Do, So Will Your Dog!

If You Cut The Quick, Apply The Stypic Powder.
It Typically Comes In A Container That Your Dog's Nail Will Fit
Into Perfectly.
If You Don't Have Stypic Powder, Use Corn Starch.
Put The Corn Starch In A Bowl. Gently Put Pressure On Your Dog's Paw
To Extend The Bleeding Nail And Put It In The Corn Starch Or Stypic Powder.
Leave The Stypic Powder or Corn Starch On The Nail
Until It Falls Off By Itself.
Praise, Praise, Praise.

Don't Worry. Your Dog Will Be Fine And So Will You.

Don't Stop The Session. Finish Trimming Your Dog's Nails,
Take Off A Bit Less On The Remaining Nails.
Praise, Praise, Praise.

After Your Done, Give Your Pooch A Treat.
The Next Dog Nail Trimming Will Be Better and Soon Your Dogh Will Know
If They're Good About The Nail Trim, They Get A Treat.
Food Is A Terrific Motivator.

If Your Dog Has Super Long Claw Type Nails,
You Can Either Trim Every 2 Weeks 1/8" to 1/4" Off
Until They're The Desired Length Or Take Your Dog To The Vet,
Sedate Them With Puppy Valium Or Something Like That,
And Have Them Dremeled (a fancy word for an electric spinning nail file).

Dremeling Will Cost You For Knock Out Juice,
The Dremel And The Kennel For The Day.
It's A Terrific Option For
Those That Don't Want To
Trim Nails Every Two Weeks Until Desired Length Is Met
Or The Nails Are Soooo Long, This Is The Very Best Thing To Do.
Before Making A Decision, Talk With Your Veterinarian
About Dremeling Versus Long Term Trimming.
